UpBeat

UpBeat NYC, a music program located in South Bronx's Mott Haven neighborhood, New York. UpBeat was founded by music educators, inspired by El Sistema's Venezuelan music education system. It uses ensemble performance and pursuits of musical excellence to help children in the area achieve better lives. UpBeat is seeking assistant music teachers. Volunteers should be familiar with music and have a passion for teaching young people. The program meets twice each week and volunteers must give at least two hours each week.

UpBeat is a nonprofit organization that promotes music arts, education, and culture. Music enthusiasts can volunteer at this nonprofit to help students of all levels learn about the history of the genre. The organization is particularly interested to learn about early music such as Renaissance, Baroque or Classical music. Many music students are inspired by the music of family members and friends. Make Music New York

Free, family-friendly concerts and gatherings take place throughout the city. Participants are asked to dress warmly and be prepared to get wet.


Symphony Space

Symphony Space is a NYC volunteer music program that was started by Isaiah Sheffer, Allan Miller, and others. This multidisciplinary performing arts organization is located at 2537 Broadway, Upper West Side. The theatres are the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre (760 seats) and Leonard Nimoy Thalia (160 seats). Volunteers work behind the scenes to make the theaters a reality.

The non-profit organization has since expanded its mission to include performing arts across multiple disciplines. National Public Radio distributes an annual "Selected Shorts," story reading and a free annual showcase of dance. It hosts the "Wall to Wall” marathons of classical music. Every June 16, the date of the James Joyce novel "Ulysses," the nonprofit has become a mainstay for community events. Tomorrow is the next dance showcase.

Friends of Music Concerts

Friends Of Music Concerts, a Westchester County non-profit arts group that produces chamber music concerts and offers educational opportunities to high school students, is located in Westchester County. It takes about 2 hours to tour the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame was established in 1960 and consists of 1,400 stars embedded into the sidewalk outside Grauman's Chinese Theater. It celebrates the contributions of celebrities to film and television, music and theater, as well as art, science, politics, literature, fashion architecture, education, and other fields. Each star is accompanied on a plaque that has the individual's name as well as their birth year and category.

There are currently 683 stars located along Hollywood Boulevard from Gower Street to Vine Street. A third of the stars have been given posthumously.
