FAQ

Why is it that so few independent films are ever released?

Indie filmmakers are assuming that distributors will be interested in their films.

Because they love the work, distributors will likely buy their films.

However, this is seldom the case. Distributors often profit from independent filmmakers.

They will use techniques such as delaying the release of a movie until after the awards season has ended.

Or they delay the release date of a low-budget film until after the summer blockbuster season has begun.

Distributors may also keep films from the public until people have already spent hundreds of money on tickets, popcorn or candy.

They don't want any of those profits to go to waste.

What happens if my movie doesn't do well at the box office

Several things could happen if your film performs poorly at the box office.

You might first decide to modify the way you market your movie.

Second, you may decide to rewrite the script.

Third, you might decide to add new characters.

Fourth, you might decide to remove some characters.

Fifth, it is possible to decide to end the scene.

Sixth, and you might decide that it wasn't worthwhile making the film.

Is the Hollywood Walk of Fame a free thing?

Yes! The Hollywood Walk of Fame is free to enter. If you plan to take photos at the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, you'll need a permit. The fee is $15 per person.

There are no cameras allowed inside the walkway.

Why is Hollywood so famous?

D.W. Griffith founded the first film industry in California in 1887. It was named for its Los Angeles location, also known as Hollywood at that time.

Because it was an exciting area to visit, the name stuck. It was a place that people would travel from all walks of the globe to experience.

Hollywood is still a big part of our culture. We have movies and television shows, music videos, commercials and so on. And we call them all "Hollywood."

How To

How to get an honor star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Walk of Fame (HWOF) was established in 1960 by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The HWOF is located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. It has 2,711 stars embedded in the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk. Each star represents someone who made motion pictures, television or radio, as well as music and other aspects of popular culture. There are 1,922 individuals currently listed on HWOF.

You will need to submit your application to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be considered for membership to the HWOF. Once submitted, your name will be sent to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you are approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility that includes your name, date, residence, occupation, category, and other information. You also receive a bronze plaque with your name engraved on it. This plaque is affixed to a concrete base in front of the designated star.

If you were nominated by an HWOF member, or if there are significant contributions made to the entertainment, film, radio, theatre, and music industries, you may be eligible for a "star" award. The nominations are evaluated by a committee, which then decides whether or not to approve them. If they do so, they send a message to the applicant's address explaining their decision. If the person accepts the nomination, he/she receives a second letter confirming acceptance. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce will then pay $25. This money is forwarded to the Department of Cultural Affairs of Los Angeles.

The department issues a cheque payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce. It then sends the check the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the applicant or organization. The artist or organization then pays the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce half the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs pays the remainder.

Once the artist receives his/her star he/she will be eligible to be inducted into the HWOF. To be listed on the HWOF, you must pay the remaining balance owed to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The amount due will vary depending on how long ago you were nominated. If you were first nominated for a nomination in 1990, your owe $15,000. However, if you had been previously nominated in 1980, you would owe $10,000.

To remove yourself from HWOF, contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. They will help you pay the remaining debt. They will remove the name of your from the list.

How old do you have to be in order to receive a star on HWOF?

When nominated, one must have at least 18-years-old. A person must be present at the time of receiving a star. A star can be renominated after 10 years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

Why can't we just choose a different street and not have stars all over?

The HWOF is not meant to be a historical monument. It honors those who made history through film.
