FAQ

How many films does Hollywood make in a given year?

Hollywood studios make approximately 3,000 films annually. That's right, 3000!

Hollywood spends billions advertising these films. They spend millions making them. They also spend millions promoting them. But how many do you think actually end up getting released into theaters?

The answer is most likely between 200 and 300. What happens then to the 2,700+ remaining films? They are either distributed as direct-to–video releases or simply left in storage.

However, not all of them are unavoidable. Some of them are available for distribution via Netflix and Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus or iTunes, Google Play, and others.

Hence, why aren't there more of them? Why are they not released in theaters? Because they are too expensive to make.

And if they were cheaper to produce, they'd be released into theaters.

I can help. I will help you find the best possible way to release your film in theaters.

I'll show you how to maximize your return on investment (ROI) and increase your chances of seeing your movie in theaters.

Let's face the facts...

It can be challenging to get your film into theaters. The process is long, complex and full of legalities.

It might also cost you a lot before you start.

Even worse, your window of opportunity to distribute your film is very limited.

There simply isn't enough time between when a film is finished, and its theatrical run begins.

Why is it called Hollywood?

D.W. Griffith founded the first film industry in California in 1887. It was named for its Los Angeles location, also known as Hollywood at that time.

It was an exciting place to visit and the name stuck. People came from all parts of the country to see what was going on there.

Today, Hollywood is still very much part of our culture. We have movies. There are also music videos. Commercials. We call them all "Hollywood."

How much of the box-office revenue is spent on marketing budgets?

Marketing budgets account for approximately 20% to 40% of film budgets. This is because marketing plays a vital role in any film's success.

Without marketing, nobody will know anything about your film. If people don't know anything about your film they won't pay to see it.

How many theaters do I need to make back my investment?

It all depends on how long your theatrical release will be running.

If your film is going to be run for less then two weeks, one theater will suffice.

If your film is going to be screened for more then two weeks, you will need two theaters.

Why can't we just choose a different street and not have stars all over?

The HWOF is not meant to be a historical monument. It is intended to honor all those who have made film history possible.

What happened with the stars that were stolen? Around 1,200 stars were taken by the thieves. Each star weighs approximately 250-300 pounds, which equates to 4 tons of stars.
