What is the difference in a distributor and a producer?

A producer creates the movie. The movie is distributed by a distributor. Distributors and theaters are two options for producers to sell their movies. Distributors buy movies directly from producers. Distributors then sell the movies to theaters, cable networks, and streaming services.

Distributors have to negotiate with theater owners over where their movies should play. This can mean that different theaters may charge different prices for a movie. If you want your movie to be seen by as many people as possible, you should choose a distributor with many theaters.

What made Hollywood famous?

The answer was obvious. They were willing to take chances and try something new. This made it famous. They made films that would last a lifetime.

And they also had the courage to experiment with new ideas.

How To

How to get a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in 1960 established the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The HWOF's Los Angeles location is at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It is composed of 2,711 stars embedded into sidewalks along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who made motion pictures, television or radio, as well as music and other aspects of popular culture. The HWOF currently lists 1,922 people.

To become a member of HWOF you will need to submit your name at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. This submits your name then to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, you receive a certificate of eligibility, which includes your name, date of birth, city of residence, occupation, and category. A bronze plaque with the name of your choice is included. This plaque is affixed to a concrete base in front of the designated star.

You can apply for a star if a current member of the HWOF nominated you or if you made significant contributions to movies, television, radio, theatre, music, or something else considered part of "popular culture." A committee evaluates all nominations and then decides whether to approve them. If they do so, they send a message to the applicant's address explaining their decision. If the person accepts, they will be sent a second letter to confirm their acceptance. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce charges $25, and then the money is sent to the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Los Angles.

The department issues an official check payable to Hollywood Chamber of commerce. This check is then sent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays any artist or organization that submitted an application. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce then pays half of the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs receives the remaining half.

Once the artist has received his/her star, he/she becomes eligible to be included in the HWOF. To be eligible for the HWOF, the artist must pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce any balance. The amount due is dependent on the number of years since you were first recognized. For example, $15,000. Suppose you were first nominated as a nominee in 1990. However, if you had been previously nominated in 1980, you would owe $10,000.

If you want to remove yourself from the HWOF, you need to contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and pay off the remainder of your debt. They will remove your name from this list.

What age is required to become a HWOF star?

To be nominated, one must be at least 18 years. To be eligible for a star, you must still be alive. After receiving a star, one may still be nominated again after ten years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

A family member can nominate your name for a star. If there are no known living relatives, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place the memorial marker in front of it.

Why can't people choose to use a different street than having stars all over the place?

The HWOF isn't meant to be an historical monument. It's meant to be a tribute to those who have contributed to film history.

What happened with the stars that were stolen? The thieves took around 1,200 stars. Each star is between 250-300 lbs. If you add all of the weight together, it comes to approximately 4 tons of stars!
