What is the average number of movies Hollywood makes in a year?

Hollywood studios make approximately 3,000 films annually. It's true, there are three thousand!

Hollywood spends billions on film advertising. They spend millions on their production. They spend millions to promote them. However, how many actually make it to the theaters?

It is likely that the answer is between 200-300. What happens to the 2,700+ additional films? Many of the films are either directly-to-video released or left to collect dust in storage vaults.

Some of them may not be seen. Some of them were selected for distribution via Netflix Prime, Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus, iTunes or Google Play.

Hence why don't more of these films be released? Why aren’t they being shown in theaters instead? Because they are too expensive to make.

If they were more affordable to produce they would be released into theaters.

Here's where you find me. I can help guide you in the best way possible to put your movie in theaters.

I'll show how to maximize your return-on-investment (ROI) as well as increase your chances for seeing your movie in theatres.

We have to face it...

Getting your film into theaters can be quite difficult. This process can be complicated, lengthy, and filled with legalities.

You may end up spending a lot of money before you get started.

The time frame in which your film can be distributed is also very limited.

There is simply not enough time between the end of a film and when it goes on its theatrical run.

Is Hollywood making more from international sales than domestic?

Yes, but only slightly. Foreign revenues made up about 17% of total revenue in 2017. 83% of total revenue came from domestic sources.

In fact, more than half the world's people live in overseas markets.

Many people will want to see your movie even though they may not have the opportunity to watch it at home.

How many theaters do I need to make back my investment?

It all depends on how long your theatrical release will be running.

You will only need one theater to show your film if you plan to run it for less that two weeks.

You will need at least two theaters if you plan to keep your film running for more than 2 weeks.

What's the difference between an indie film and a foreign language film?

A film made independently is typically done by one filmmaker, who makes all the decisions.

On the other side, a foreign-language film is normally produced by an even larger production team.

They often hire writers and actors from other nations.

Professional translators are also available to ensure that the dialogue sounds natural.

Why is Hollywood so famous?

The first film industry was founded in California in 1887 by D.W. Griffith. It was named for its Los Angeles location, also known as Hollywood at that time.

Because it was an exciting area to visit, the name stuck. It attracted people from all over the world to check out what was happening.

Hollywood is still a part of our culture today. Movies, television shows and music videos are all part of our culture. They are all called Hollywood.

How To

How to get an honor star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

In 1960, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce created the Hollywood Walk of Fame (HWOF). The HWOF is located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. It is made up of 2,711 stars that are embedded in the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk. Each star represents someone who contributed to motion pictures, television, radio, theater, music, or some aspect of popular culture. There are currently 1,922 active individuals on the HWOF.

To become a member of the HWOF, you must submit your name to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which then submits your name to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. After being approved, you will be issued a certificate stating your name, date and place of birth. It also includes information about your occupation, occupation and category. A bronze plaque with the name of your choice is included. This plaque is affixed to a concrete base in front of the designated star.

If a member of the HWOF has nominated you, or if your contributions are significant to films, television, radio or theatre, or any other part of popular culture, you can apply for a Star. The nominations are evaluated by a committee, which then decides whether or not to approve them. If they do approve them, they send a note to the home address of the applicant stating their decision. A second letter confirms acceptance if the nominee accepts the nomination. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce then charges $25 and forwards the money on to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues the Hollywood Chamber of commerce a check, payable to it. The check is sent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the artist or organization whose application was accepted. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce then pays half of the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs pays the remainder.

Once the artist has received his/her star, he/she becomes eligible to be included in the HWOF. To be eligible to list on the HWOF you will need to pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce all outstanding balance. The amount due is dependent on the number of years since you were first recognized. For example, if you were first nominated in 1990, you would owe $15,000. For example, if your first nomination was in 1990, you would owe $15,000. However, if it had been in 1980, you would owe 10,000.

You can remove yourself from HWOF by contacting the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to pay the rest of your debt. They will remove the name of your from the list.

How old must one be to get a HWOF star

Nominations are open to anyone over 18 years of age. To be eligible for a star, you must still be alive. After receiving a star, one may still be nominated again after ten years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

You can be nominated by your family members to receive a star. If there are no known living relatives, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place the memorial marker in front of it.

Why don't people just use a different street instead of having stars all over the place?

The HWOF doesn't intend to be historical monument. It's meant to be a tribute to those who have contributed to film history.

What happened to the stolen stars? The thieves stole around 1,200 stars. Each star is between 250-300 lbs. If you add all of the weight together, it comes to approximately 4 tons of stars!
