FAQ

Which percentage of the box offices goes to marketing budgets and what is their share?

Marketing budgets account for approximately 20% to 40% of film budgets. This is because marketing is very important to the success of any film.

Without marketing, nobody will know anything about your film. No one will pay for your film if they don't know about it.

Do I have the right to start my own distribution firm?

No. You cannot legally operate a distribution company without being a distributor.

Even though you might not be distribution films for other people, there are still rules.

You cannot charge different prices to different theaters. You cannot also charge different fees to customers.

You also can't sell your services to other companies.

Hollywood became famous because of its fame.

The answer was obvious. They took risks and did something different to make it popular. They were able to make films that would be remembered for many years.

They also had the courage and vision to try new ideas.

Why aren't more filmmakers using crowdfunding sites like Indiegogo and Kickstarter?

Crowdfunding sites can be great as they let you reach out to potential investors.

However, most filmmakers do not believe they are qualified to request money. They feel that they need someone else to vouch for them.

Since they haven’t proved themselves yet, they don’t think anyone should make an investment in them.

Instead, they spend long hours working on their project, in hopes of someone noticing.

Then, when they launch the campaign, they realize how poorly prepared they were.

They end up with only a few donations, instead of thousands of dollars.

Is Hollywood larger than Bollywood?

Producing films that are well-received is the most difficult challenge.

The problem is that there are many movies competing for people's time and money. The problem is that you will not be seen if you aren't different from the rest.

But what makes a movie popular? What makes an actor or director famous? Or a director? It's not only talent, but also luck. No matter how talented your actors are, if they have poor scripts, it will be impossible to get the job done.

There are two types of films: independent productions and blockbuster movies with big budgets. Blockbuster movies cost hundreds of millions of dollars to produce and distribute. These movies are often made by large studios that want their films to reach as many people as possible. But, these high-budget films are more appealing to older audiences.

Independent films can be smaller productions funded by individuals or groups. These films are often targeted at niche markets and appeal to particular tastes. These films are usually easier to market and produce. However, this does not mean they are always less expensive to watch. Many indie films can be difficult to find.

We need both types? Do we need big blockbuster movies and small independent ones? Hollywood is bigger than Bollywood, according to me. That's because Hollywood produces almost twice as many movies per year as India does!
