How many movies makes Hollywood each year?

The number of films produced by Hollywood studios each year is approximately 3,000. It's true, there are three thousand!

Hollywood spends billions on film advertising. They spend millions on their production. They also spend millions promoting them. But how many do you think actually end up getting released into theaters?

The answer is probably around 200-300. The question is, what happens to all the other 2,700+ films? Many of the films are either directly-to-video released or left to collect dust in storage vaults.

They are not all destined to be overlooked. Some of them have been selected for distribution via Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus, iTunes, Google Play, etc.

So why don't we see more of them? Why aren't they released in theaters? They are too expensive for production.

They'd also be cheaper to produce and released in theaters.

That's where I come in. I can help guide you in the best way possible to put your movie in theaters.

It can be difficult to get your movie into theaters. This process can be complicated, lengthy, and filled with legalities.

It could also be costly before you even start.

It is even more difficult to distribute your film within a limited timeframe.

There isn't enough time in between the time a movie is finished and when its theatrical run starts.

Do I have the right to start my own distribution firm?

No. It is illegal to legally run a distribution business without being a distributor.

Even though you may not be distributing other people's films, you still have to follow certain rules.

For instance, it is not possible to charge different prices for different theaters. You cannot also charge different fees to customers.

Other companies cannot also sell your services.

Why don’t more filmmakers use crowdfunding platforms like Indiegogo, Kickstarter, and others?

Crowdfunding is a great way to connect with potential investors.

But most filmmakers don't think they're qualified to ask for money. They feel that they need someone else to vouch for them.

Because they are still in their infancy, they do not believe that anyone should invest.

Instead, they spend many months working on the project in hopes that someone will notice.

Then they realize that they didn't properly prepare for the launch of their campaign.

So instead of getting thousands of dollars, they end up with just a handful of donations.

Which percentage of the box offices goes to marketing budgets and what is their share?

Marketing budgets often account for 20%-40% of the film's budget. This is because marketing is very important to the success of any film.

Without marketing, nobody will know anything about your film. People won't pay for it if they don’t know about it.

How To

How to get a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce established the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. The HWOF's Los Angeles location is at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It's made up of 2,711 stars, which are embedded in the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who contributed to motion pictures, television, radio, theater, music, or some aspect of popular culture. There are currently 1,922 active individuals on the HWOF.

You must first submit your name and address to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to become a member of HWOF. The Hollywood Department of Cultural Affairs then submits your information to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you have been approved, you will be given a certificate that shows your name and details, including date of birth, place of residence, occupation, and category. A bronze plaque with your personalization is also provided. This plaque is attached to a concrete base located in front of the designated Star.

If a member of the HWOF has nominated you, or if your contributions are significant to films, television, radio or theatre, or any other part of popular culture, you can apply for a Star. A committee evaluates all nominations and then decides whether to approve them. If they decide to approve, they write a letter to the address of the applicant explaining their decision. If the person accepts, they will be sent a second letter to confirm their acceptance. The applicant then pays $25 to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which forwards the money to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues the Hollywood Chamber of commerce a check, payable to it. The check is sent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays any artist or organization that submitted an application. The artist or organization then pays the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce half the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs pays the remainder.

Once the artist has received his/her star, he/she becomes eligible to be included in the HWOF. To be eligible to list on the HWOF you will need to pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce all outstanding balance. The amount due is dependent on the number of years since you were first recognized. For example, $15,000. Suppose you were first nominated as a nominee in 1990. You'd owe $10,000 if you were previously nominated in 1990.

To remove yourself from HWOF, contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. They will help you pay the remaining debt. They will remove you from the list.

How old must one be to get a HWOF star

Nominations are open to anyone over 18 years of age. To be eligible for a star, you must still be alive. After receiving a stars, one could still be nominated after ten more years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

Nominating you can be done by family members. If there are no living relatives, then the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place a memorial marker in front of the star.

Why not just have stars on every street?

The HWOF does not intend to be a historical monument. It is intended to honor all those who have made film history possible.

What happened to the stolen stars? The thieves took around 1,200 stars. Each star is between 250-300 lbs. If you add all of the weight together, it comes to approximately 4 tons of stars!
