On Tuesday night, the St. Louis Cardinals won Game 5. This was due to Impact Isbel's 2-run single in the extra innings. After the Cardinals led off the game with a single to right, they added a run in the fifth on a single by Harry Walker. After two outs, a runner reached third when Tony Lazzeri made a slow grounder. Jack Dickson hit a single to leftfield, scoring another run. After that, a baserunner got hit by pitch. He was struck out.

How many films does Hollywood make in a given year?
Hollywood studios produce about 3,000 films each year. It's true, there are three thousand!
Hollywood spends billions on advertising for these films. They spend millions creating them. They also spend millions on marketing them. But how many do you think actually end up getting released into theaters?
It's probably between 200-300. What happens to the 2,700+ other films? The majority of these films are either direct-to video releases or sit in storage.

Why don't they get more? Why are they not released in theaters? Because they're too expensive to produce.

How to get a Hollywood Walk of Fame star
In 1960, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce created the Hollywood Walk of Fame (HWOF). The HWOF, located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard Los Angeles, California. It is composed of 2,711 stars embedded into sidewalks along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who contributed to motion pictures, television, radio, theater, music, or some aspect of popular culture. There are currently 1,922 active individuals on the HWOF.
To become a member of HWOF you will need to submit your name at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. This submits your name then to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you are approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility that includes your name, date, residence, occupation, category, and other information. You will also receive a bronze plaque engraved with your name. This plaque is affixed to a concrete base in front of the designated star.
If a member of the HWOF has nominated you, or if your contributions are significant to films, television, radio or theatre, or any other part of popular culture, you can apply for a Star. The nominations are evaluated by a committee, which then decides whether or not to approve them. If they do, they will send a letter explaining their decision to the applicant at his/her home address. The person who accepts the nomination will receive a second confirmation letter. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce charges $25, and then the money is sent to the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Los Angles.
The department issues a cheque payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce. It then sends the check the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays any artist or organization that submitted an application. The fee is then paid to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce at $12.50. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs takes the other half.
Once the artist receives his/her star he/she will be eligible to be inducted into the HWOF. To be eligible to list on the HWOF you will need to pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce all outstanding balance. The amount due will depend on when you were first nominated. For example, if you were first nominated in 1990, you would owe $15,000. However, if you had been previously nominated in 1980, you would owe $10,000.
You will need to contact Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be removed from the HWOF. They will remove your name permanently from the HWOF list.
What age is required to become a HWOF star?
Nominations are open to anyone over 18 years of age. To be eligible for a star, you must still be alive. After receiving a Star, one can still be Nominated for another star after ten Years.
What happens if I die before my star gets put up?
Your family members can nominate you for a star. If there are no known living relatives, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place the memorial marker in front of it.
Why not just have stars on every street?
The HWOF was not created to be a historical landmark. It is meant as a memorial to all who contributed to the history of film.
